Operation: Aunties – Amiyah Scott Talks New ALLBLK Film

AllBlk’s newest made for TV movie stars legendary actresses Tisha Campbell and Melissa De Sousa.  The project is directed by Emmy award-winning actress and producer Wendy Raquel Robinson.  Lenox & Parker EIC Christal Jordan Jennings had a chance to speak with actress Amiyah Scott on her role in the film. Although the subject nature is extremely sensitive, Amiyah says the audience won’t feel overwhelmed or anxious throughout the film. “It is dealing with a very serious topic which is sex trafficking but Wendy did a great job of addressing the seriousness of the issue while still allowing the personalities of the characters to shine through and even bring a little comedic relief at times. It’s beautifully done,” she explains. 

After an attempted trafficking incident impacts her family, professor and blockchain expert Dr. Carol Cleavers (Melissa De Sousa, The Best Man)uncovers a dark web trafficking ring targeting women through a rideshare app. When the feds start to drag their feet on the case, Carol recruits her ride-or-die bestie, retired detective Sharon O’Hara (Tisha Campbell, Martin, Act Your Age), and her tech-genius niece Aminah (Amiyah Scott, Star) to take matters into their own hands. Together, the three women become cyber-age vigilantes on a mission for justice and survival. “I think technology offers leverage with sex trafficking crime and so many other things. I think the audience will see the importance of learning technology and utilizing it appropriately,” Amiyah shares.
