Life throws lessons at us, and I wanted to turn those hard lessons into music that people can feel, move to, and relate with.
Q: The EP opens with Lights, Camera, Action (Intro). How does this track set the tone?
DuBois: That opening track is all about setting the stage. It’s like saying, “Here I am, this is my story, and I’m not holding anything back.” It gives listeners a glimpse of the honesty and vulnerability they’ll experience throughout the EP.
Q: You blend smooth melodies with soulful storytelling. How do you balance swagger and vulnerability in your music?
DuBois: For me, it’s all about being authentic. I don’t want to hide my emotions behind a beat or a catchy hook. At the same time, I love bringing confidence and energy to my sound. Tracks like APOLLO 11 and This or That show that you can be both bold and real at the same time.
Q: Your lead single, So Far Gone, is a standout. What does this song mean to you?
DuBois: So Far Gone is about transforming heartbreak into hope. It’s emotional, up-tempo, and built for singing along. I wanted to show that even through pain, you can find growth and joy. It’s a reminder that reflection and confidence can coexist.
