The American King Foundation will host the #FREEGAME movement, an event focused on introducing young people to entrepreneurship on Saturday, December 8, 2018, from 10am – 3pm, at the historic Ebenezer Baptist church. Created to inspire entrepreneurship and teach the foundational principles that lead to internal economic empowerment, the #FREEGAME movement seeks to promote the goal of entrepreneurship within young people by bringing in industry experts to speak to high school students about the relationship between financial freedom and ownership.

Founder Angela Stanton wishes programs like this would’ve been offered when she was transitioning into adulthood. “If the people I was around and looked up to would’ve been open to sharing their knowledge it would’ve made my journey much easier. Too often when people become successful, they don’t share what they’ve learned, or they want to charge for every little bit of information. If we continue this pattern, we won’t see overall growth in our communities. That’s why many of our communities haven’t seen collective growth, instead we see individual growth. We believe the game is to be told, not sold so that we can experience community empowerment, not just individual empowerment,” Stanton explains.

Stanton partnered with Atlanta-based celebrity publicist and pop culture analyst Christal Jordan for the movement, which features numerous community and industry leaders. “I’m happy to say that we have panelists and speakers that embrace and understand the power of mentorship. They also understand that entrepreneurship is the only answer for our communities; especially right now. Looking at the political landscape right now can be discouraging but I believe teaching young people how to create financial freedom for themselves and their families is key in reversing the cultural climate,” Jordan says.

Professor and best-selling author Devin Robinson was tapped to be the keynote speaker for the event, based on his controversial book, 50 Obstacles Black Entrepreneurs face and how to overcome them”. Robinson is a 10-time author, former business and economics professor and Pulitzer prize winning newspaper columnist. Robinson is most proud of mentoring over 200 small business owners realize their dream through his entrepreneurial academy.
Robinson will be joined by music executive and CEO of RAYDAR, Ray Daniels. Daniels is a testament of the importance of ownership as he is one of the most successful music executives of the last decade, responsible for numerous Grammy award-winning records and chart-topping success.
Robinson and Daniels will be in great company with panelists and contributors such as; Dr. Heavenly (Bravo’s Married to Medicine), Nicci Gilbert (TV ONE’s R&B Diva’s), Lovely MiMi (MTV’s Wild ‘n Out), Angela Stanton (BET’s From the Bottom Up), Topeka K.
